I completed 'Mad Bluebird' earlier this year, which was the first thing I've stitched just for me! Over the years, I've made so many wedding samplers, birth samplers, samplers 'just for friends' gifts', sweatshirts and blouses, ornaments (oodles and…

What are your favorite stitching activities?
sampers, hardanger, drawn thread, cross stitch, counted needlepoint, knitting
Tell us a little about yourself:
I've been doing counted thread needlework for over 30 years. I love band samplers most of all, but I'll stitch pretty much any sampler, Santa, and a lot of hardanger.

I'm a retired software engineer (hence the affinity for counted thread work). I have owned and operated my own needlework shops, but in retirement I stitch, pin needlework for a local gallery and make beaded needlework gadgets to sell.

I also make most of my own frames now. I got started when I had a hard time finding mouldings simple enough to showcase reproduction and old style samplers. My husband gave me a compound mitre saw and router for Christmas one year and off I went. The noise doesn't even make me flinch anymore! I stain or paint them with faux finishes. I'll try to make note in the photo descriptions of the ones I've made.

I have a husband who supports all my needlework activities. We are the proud parents of two (currently) pugs, Lester and Earl, who run our household.
